What the work involves.
Tile is as much about layout as it is about the tile itself: where the cuts fall, how the pattern lines up at corners and around fixtures, and keeping grout lines straight across a whole wall or floor. Large-format tile, herringbone and stacked patterns each need their own planning, and that starts with a level, solid surface underneath — backer board on walls, a flat subfloor or slab underneath floors.
In showers and tub surrounds, the work that matters most is invisible when it’s done: a waterproofing membrane behind the tile, a properly sloped pan and correctly flashed corners and niches. Tile that looks perfect but leaks behind the wall is the most expensive kind of tile job, and we don’t do it that way.

Tile in Northern Utah homes
Utah’s hard water leaves mineral scale on tile and grout, so grout choice and sealing matter here — high-performance or epoxy grouts stay cleaner in showers, and glazed porcelain resists staining better than some natural stones. Good ventilation keeps a small bathroom from holding moisture in a climate where people rarely think about it.
Older Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo bathrooms often reveal soft subfloor or plaster walls once old tile comes out; we plan for repairs before new tile goes on. Tile is one of the services we combine most often with bathroom remodeling and flooring, so a shower, floor and vanity can be done as one project.

Tile Installation questions.
Do you waterproof showers before tiling?
Yes. A waterproofing membrane behind the tile and a properly sloped pan are standard on every shower and tub surround we build.
Can you install tile I’ve already picked out?
Yes. Tell us the tile, its size and the area, and we’ll plan the layout and any extra prep it needs. Large-format tile and natural stone have specific requirements we’ll walk through.
Do you remove old tile?
Yes. Removing old tile, repairing the wall or floor behind it and preparing the surface are part of the job.
What grout should I use in a shower?
Epoxy or high-performance grouts resist staining and mineral buildup from Utah’s hard water and are easier to keep clean. We’ll recommend one for your tile and budget.
How long does a tile shower take?
Typically several days, because waterproofing, mortar and grout each need time to cure before the next step. We’ll give a schedule with your free estimate.
