Backyard & Yard Renovations in Salt Lake City & Northern Utah
The whole yard, one crew.
When a yard needs more than one kind of work, EKN handles it as one project — grading and drainage, sprinklers, sod or artificial turf, planting beds, fencing and concrete patios or walkways — so each piece is built in the right order. Free estimates across Salt Lake City and Northern Utah.

What the work involves.
A yard renovation is where our range of exterior services pays off. Sprinkler lines go in before the concrete is poured. Fence posts are set before the sod arrives. Beds are edged before the rock goes down. When separate contractors handle these pieces, the usual result is one trade undoing another’s work; when one crew plans the sequence, the yard comes together cleanly and faster.
Projects range from a backyard that has never been finished after a new build to an established yard that needs a fresh layout — a bigger patio, a dog run, a play area, less lawn to water. We start by talking through how you want to use the space, then map the pieces and the order they should happen in. Larger renovations can be phased over more than one season if that suits your budget.

Renovating a yard along the Wasatch Front
Newer neighborhoods in Herriman, Lehi, South Jordan, Layton and Tooele often hand owners a backyard of graded dirt and nothing else. Older yards in Salt Lake City, Bountiful and Ogden more often need drainage fixed, an aging lawn replaced and a sprinkler system that was patched for decades finally redone.
Either way, the Utah questions come first: where does water go in a spring thaw, how much lawn do you really want to irrigate under metered secondary water, and which areas would be better as turf, rock or a patio. A renovation planned around those answers costs less to maintain for years afterward.

Yard & Outdoor Renovations questions.
Can you do the whole yard, or do I need separate contractors?
EKN handles landscaping, sod, artificial turf, sprinklers, fencing, tree removal and concrete, so most yard renovations can be done by one crew under one plan.
What order does a yard renovation happen in?
Typically: removal and grading, then underground work (sprinkler lines, drainage), then concrete and fencing, then beds and rock, and finally sod or turf. Planning this order is most of the value of doing it as one project.
Can we do it in phases?
Yes. Many homeowners do the underground work, concrete and fencing first and add sod, turf or planting the following season.
How do I get started?
