What the work involves.
A full interior remodel is the project that changes how a whole home looks and works — not one room, but the flow between them. It usually starts with a list: floors that don’t match from room to room, a bathroom that has never been updated, walls that need patching before paint, doors and trim from a different decade. Handling those under one plan keeps the sequence right (floors before baseboards, tile before fixtures, paint last) and the finishes consistent from one room to the next.
We begin with a walk-through and a conversation about what you want to change and what you want to keep. From there we map the scope room by room, flag anything that needs a permit or an inspection, and talk through whether the work happens all at once or in stages while you live in the home. Many Utah families remodel a main floor first and a basement level later, or do the bathrooms and flooring together and leave paint for a second phase.
Typical full interior remodeling projects
- Whole-home and whole-floor remodels
- Main-floor updates — living, dining and hallways
- Bathrooms remodeled as part of a larger project
- New flooring throughout, including stairs and transitions
- Tile for showers, floors and backsplashes
- Interior painting, doors, trim and baseboards
- Fixture and hardware replacement
- Phased remodels for occupied homes
Remodeling homes along the Wasatch Front
Northern Utah has two very different housing stocks. Older neighborhoods in Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Ogden and Provo — the Avenues, Sugar House, Rose Park and their equivalents — often have plaster walls, layered flooring and plumbing that has been patched for decades. Newer homes in Herriman, Lehi, South Jordan, Layton and Tooele tend to be builder-grade inside and ready for better finishes. The approach to each is different, and we plan for what we’re likely to find.
In Salt Lake City and most Utah cities, work that moves walls, plumbing or electrical needs a permit and inspections; cosmetic work usually does not. We’ll tell you which parts of your project fall on which side and plan for it, and under Utah law, projects over a modest threshold must be done by a licensed contractor — which EKN is.

Full Interior Remodeling questions.
Can we live in the house during a full interior remodel?
Often, yes. Phasing the work by floor or by room, and keeping one bathroom and the kitchen usable, makes it manageable. We’ll talk through what’s realistic for your project when we plan it.
Do I need a permit for an interior remodel in Utah?
Structural, plumbing and electrical changes need permits and inspections in Salt Lake City and most Northern Utah cities. Flooring, tile, paint and trim generally don’t. We’ll identify what applies to your scope.
Does a full remodel include the kitchen and bathrooms?
It can. Bathrooms, flooring, tile, paint and trim are all services we provide directly, so they can be planned together. Describe the whole project and we’ll scope it as one.
How do you price a full interior remodel?
Estimates are free. Cost depends on the rooms involved, what needs to come out, the materials you choose and whether plumbing or walls move. We’ll walk you through the drivers so the scope fits your budget.
Where do you remodel?
