What the work involves.
Sod gives you a usable lawn immediately instead of the weeks of bare dirt that seeding requires. The result depends less on the sod itself than on what happens underneath it: removing the old lawn or weeds, correcting the grade so water drains away from the house, adding topsoil where the ground is poor, and making sure the sprinkler system covers every corner before the first roll goes down.
After installation, sod needs consistent watering for the first two to three weeks while the roots knit into the soil. We’ll walk you through a watering schedule for your system and the season, and we can adjust or repair sprinkler zones as part of the same job.

Sod in Northern Utah
Kentucky bluegrass is the standard lawn along the Wasatch Front because it handles cold winters and recovers well from wear. Tall fescue blends are increasingly popular for their deeper roots and lower water use, which matters as more Utah cities move to metered secondary water.
Timing matters here. Spring and early fall are the best windows — the sod roots quickly while the weather is mild. Mid-summer installations work, but they take more water to establish. We’ll tell you honestly whether the timing you have in mind makes sense.

Sod Installation questions.
Sod or seed — which is better in Utah?
Sod gives an instant, weed-free lawn and holds up on slopes and in wind, which is why most Utah homeowners choose it for a full lawn. Seed costs less but takes weeks to establish and needs careful watering and weed control during that time.
How soon can I walk on new sod?
Keep traffic off it for about two weeks while the roots take hold, and wait until after the first couple of mowings before using it normally.
Do I need a sprinkler system before installing sod?
A working system makes the first weeks far easier and gives the lawn a much better chance. If yours needs repairs or a new zone, we can handle that before the sod is laid.
Will you remove my old lawn?
Yes. Removing the old grass, weeds or dirt, grading and preparing the soil are all part of a proper sod installation.
