Concrete, Fencing, Landscaping & Remodeling in West Jordan, Utah

From the Jordan River to the Oquirrhs.

West Jordan runs from the Jordan River up the lower slopes of the Oquirrh Mountains, and nearly half of its homes were built in the 1990s and 2000s — the age when driveways, fences, sprinklers and bathrooms all come due at once. EKN handles all of them from one crew. Free estimates.

01 Working in West Jordan

What we know about West Jordan.

West Jordan grew from a farm town of 4,000 in 1970 to more than 116,000 today, and the housing tells the story: 1980s subdivisions near the river, a huge wave of 1990s and 2000s homes through the middle of the city, and newer neighborhoods like Welby, Copper Hills and Jordan Hills climbing the Oquirrh foothills to the west. A 25-year-old West Jordan home typically needs its first real round of work — a driveway that has cracked and spalled, a cedar fence that has leaned or rotted at the posts, sprinkler zones that don’t cover, and bathrooms and flooring on their original finishes.

The city runs its own culinary water system, drawing on its own wells and Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District supply, and maintains secondary irrigation in parts of the city. Where secondary water is available, sprinkler systems need filtration and a season-based schedule; where it isn’t, efficient zoning shows up on the water bill. West Jordan promotes Flip Your Strip and Localscapes conversions, and state rebates apply.

Fences are a big part of our work here because West Jordan makes them easy: no permit is required, 6 ft is allowed behind the front setback, 8 ft along arterial roads, and 4 ft in the front. Basement finishing is the other constant — most of the 1990s–2000s homes were sold with unfinished lower levels, and many are being finished now for growing families or as internal ADUs.

Water
West Jordan runs its own culinary system (about 12,000 acre-feet a year of city groundwater plus Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District supply) and separate secondary irrigation systems in parts of the city. Flip Your Strip, Localscapes and smart-controller rebates are promoted by the city.
Permits
Community Development (801-569-5060) via the Cityworks portal. Accessory structures need a permit if over 200 sq ft, 17 ft tall or with utilities. Basement finishes follow the state building code — we handle the permit.
Fences
Code 13-14-4: no fence permit required. Max 4 ft in the front setback or within 10 ft of a driveway / 20 ft of the street; 6 ft behind the front setback; 8 ft along arterial roads.
Terrain
Elevation 4,373 ft; flat clay soils near the Jordan River, rising foothill lots with more rock and slope on the west side toward the Oquirrhs.

04 Questions

West Jordan questions.

Do I need a fence permit in West Jordan?

No. West Jordan doesn’t require a fence permit, but heights are set by code: 4 ft in the front setback, 6 ft behind it, 8 ft along arterial roads. We build to those limits.

Is my West Jordan yard on secondary water?

Some parts of the city are, some aren’t. Tell us your address and we’ll confirm — it changes whether your sprinkler system needs a filter and how it’s zoned.

Do you finish basements in West Jordan?

Yes — it’s one of our most requested services here. A permit and inspections are part of the project.

Do you serve Welby, Copper Hills and Jordan Hills?

Yes, all of West Jordan including the foothill neighborhoods, plus South Jordan, Taylorsville and Midvale next door.
